Our Churches started with a woman named, Mother Tate. Born January 5^th, 1871. She was bound to spread the Word across many states. Mother Tate wrote music and literature. When she passed, she left behind a legacy, rich in His love and faith.

Cleveland, Ohio is where the music of the Church of the Living God took shape. Nettie Mae Harrison and many other outstanding musicians formed what our Church is most known by. Our spirit-led preaching and soulful tunes attracted many, from non-believers to believers in different religions. Our Church had a spunk that kept people drawn in. Along with our music, all members were required to be dressed to the “T”, for Chief Jewell believed that cleanliness was next to Godliness. Our Church, often referred to as “Jerusalem”, has a rich historical influence within Black America. A historical influence that we should be proud of.

CJ Edmond is a pastor of a church named The church of the living God. He started in 1991 l asked him does he like being a pastor he said, yes, I love being a pastor. He’s been a pastor for 32 years and he is still a pastor. I also asked him does he get nervous when he’s teaching his Church and he said yes, it’s good to be nervous. And that’s my amazing papa.

Today I will be talking about my great grandmother Bishop Emma Morrow. She was a mother of 6. She had 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was the pastor of Calhoun city church for 23 years. She started her life journey on August 6, 1945. She passed on May 10, 2016. In 1962 she married the late Bobby Traylor unto this union six children were born. April 16, 1976, Bishop Morrow was united in holy matrimony to Marion Morrow. Even though she was busy doing God’s work Bishop Morrow started her own business “EM-J designs”. She was a skillful seamstress. She made pillows, tablecloths, curtains, floral arrangements, and other home decoration items. Bishop Morrow had many other outstanding accomplishments in other areas including writing and directing plays, playing piano for many different churches, teaching youth Sunday school in tupelo, being a street evangelist for over thirty years, and being a talented songwriter. She wrote the song “Jesus will take care of me”. Last but not least, she loved going shopping at the thrift store.
