Giving all praises to God, to my brothers, and sisters, I greet you again in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I am so thankful that God has given me this opportunity to communicate with you once again. I give honor to our General Chief Overseer, Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem, and all the officials who are laboring in the gospel and the Church of the Living God the Pillar and Ground of the Truth, Which He Purchased With His Blood, Inc., to bring souls to Jesus Christ.

Matthew 9:37 reads, “Then said He unto his disciples. The harvest is truly in plenteous, but the laborers are few.” May the Lord God Almighty give you the strength to stand boldly and declare His powerful, Holy word.

The General Chief Overseer and I are looking forward to seeing each of you in the upcoming assemblies and we are praying for your safe travels. I praise God for seeing so many of you, young and old in the Young People’s Assembly (YPA).  We thank Bishop Renile Smith and members of Baltimore, MD for making our stay so comfortable.  I praise God for all who worked so hard to make the YPA such a success. Those who worked with the bible quiz and all aspects of the YPA did a great job.

I would also like to congratulate Deaconess Dr. Telashay Swope-Farr, on her new appointment. In addition, congratulations to all the young people who won prizes in the Bible Quiz.  Everyone who participated, you are winners because you participated, and you did your best.

In closing, parents, the school year has begun, so let us remember to:

  • Pray for your children and let them hear you pray for them.
  • Know who their friends are.
  • Teach them the word of God, Deuteronomy 6:7 reads, “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk to them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Remember you are your child’s first teacher.
  • Listen to your child and say “I love you” and embrace your child(ren) often.
  • Visit your child’s school and get to know their teachers.
  • Encourage them to be helpful and be kind to others. Luke 6:31 reads, “And as ye would men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”
  • See that he or she does their homework.
  • Teach them to be honest and to pay their tithes out of whatever monies they might earn.
  • Praise them and show them how proud you are of their grades.

Finally, parents let us live a holy and righteous life before our children. Saints, the General Chief Overseer, and I are praying God’s blessings upon you and your children. All praises be to the true and living God.

Your Humble Servant in Christ,
Deaconess Linda Worthem

Re: Florida Relief Assistance from Hurricane Ian

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to Him be the Glory, and to the Holy Ghost that abides within me. This writing is to express my sincere concerns about the churches in the State of Florida, resulting from Hurricane Ian that passed through that area, leaving a path of destruction.

Yes, we all have been praying for the saints and others there, but there is always something beyond praying that we all can do. Please know that this is not a request, but an appeal to each of your hearts to find space and time to assist our sisters and brothers with your finances in any damaged areas caused to the churches, in St. Petersburg, West Palm Beach, Ft Myers and Deerfield Beach, Florida. Every
little donation can go a long way.

Relief donations, payable to the CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, can be sent to:

National Headquarters – COTLG
c/o Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem

127 CR 433
Thaxton, MS 48871
PLEASE SEND BY OCTOBER 31st

Continue to keep the churches of Florida and members in your prayers, and remember “…with God, all things are possible.”

His Service,
Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem
General Chief Overseer/Senior Bishop
