Message from First Lady Worthem – 10/22/2023

Message from the Desk of First Lady Deaconess Linda Worthem

Date: Sunday, October 22, 2023

Holy Greetings my brothers and sisters in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I remain saved,  sanctified, with a made-up mind, and kept by the power of the Holy Ghost. I give honor to our General  Chief Overseer, Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem, and Assistant Overseer Bishop Dr. Bonnie Guster and all  officials of the Church of the Living God-Jewell Dominion, who are teaching, preaching and living  according to the word of God.

Saints as I look out at nature and see the beautiful colors that the leaves are turning, I know that Fall has  arrived. I pray that all have had a glorious time in the Lord with the visits from your Presiding Elders,  Area/State Bishops. We were beautifully blessed by Elder Joyce Flemons-Freeman, Presiding Elder and  Bishop Dr. Aurora Jones, Area Bishop. The General Chief Overseer and I are praying for all upcoming  State Assemblies. We are praying that as the teachings and words go forth, hearts will be touched and souls  will be revived and saved. The purpose of these newsletters are to encourage the members with the word  of God or with a testimony.

The month of October is National Breast Cancer month; I encourage all, men and women to do monthly  self-exams. Ladies remember to have your yearly mammograms. In October 2021, Bishop Mary Crudup,  the senior Pastor of Brown Chapel COTLG, was diagnosed with stage-3 breast cancer. After receiving the  diagnosis, she informed her family, “I believe God is going to heal me, because God is good and faithful  and I am living for God”. Then she said, “If the healing is for me to go to God or to stay, I am a winner  either way”. Over a period of one year, she had 20 Chemotherapy treatments, 33 radiation treatments, and  3 surgeries. Her praise report on March 23, 2023: she was informed by her Oncologist that she is cancer  free and at her 6-month checkup in September, she remains cancer free. Praise God!!!! Praise God!!!

Saints, no matter what the situation might be in your life, (health, children, finances, marriage, depression,  hurt, or unforgiveness), pray to God about it and give it to Him. Psalm 34:15 tells us, “The eyes of the Lord  are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry”. “For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor  forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5b). Saints, surely as the leaves change colors in the Fall season, you can look  to God to answer your prayers. Praise God!!!

In closing, pray for the General Chief Overseer and others as they prepare to travel to Ghana, Africa to do  God’s work. In addition, continue to support Bishop Marva Neal’s Wives Ministry Zoom meetings every  2nd Saturday of each month. I want to leave you with the following scripture, “The Lord bless thee, and  keep thee: the Lord makes his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the Lord lift up his  countenance upon thee, and give thee peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).

All praise be to the true and living God,

Deaconess Linda Worthem

National First Lady of COTLG-Jewell Dominion

Weekly Message from General Chief Overseer Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem

Date: 10/02/2023

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to Him be the Glory, Power, and Dominion forever and ever and to the Holy Ghost that is yet abiding in the body. This month’s key phrase is the same as September’s, “Be Different.” As Believers, we must be different because we know Jesus Christ. Numbers 14:38 reads, “But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.”

The verse tell us when the Israelites received the report from the spies, they complained of what they heard. They wanted to choose another leader and go back to Egypt. But Joshua and Caleb understood that they were called to be different, so they stood before the people and informed them that the land was exceedingly good land. Joshua and Caleb’s perspective of their situation caused them to stand out. Can you stand out? Joshua and Caleb trusted God and were committed to Him, whereas the Israelites were afraid. Can you trust God? Are you committed to God? Can you stand up when the pastor call upon you to evangelize to the youth? Can you stand up and say, here I am pastor send me? Isaiah 6:8 tells us, “ …Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here I am send me”. As Believers, we are called to stand out in the crowd.

My brothers and sisters, society has shown our children how to stand out in the crowd but has the church taught them how to be different. When your eyes are on yourself and your circumstances, you will lose your perspective and say and do ridiculous things. If you don’t believe this look back on your life. What do you see and think? Today our youth need to be taught and shown how to be different while walking by faith. Hence, when our youth get in a situation like Joshua and Caleb they will hold to their faith and remain different. We need to teach our youth how to shine and standout for Jesus Christ. As Christians, when we shine, we will do all things without grumbling or disputing, that we may be blameless and innocent, children of God. However, remember when your light shines before others it should never bring recognition to yourself, but to the glory to God. Remember, there is a thin line between being a light and putting on a show to get attention. It’s a matter of the heart when your light shines for God’s glory and not self.

In closing, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are not called to look or act a certain way. But we are called to rise above the norm and live a life that glorifies God. Others may not like it, or even understand it, but when we are determined to live our lives for God, we will de different. I’m going to end with a question I want you to ponder on. In what ways should people see Jesus Christ in you? Until next week, remember, “…with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

In His Service,
Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem
General Chief Overseer/Senior Bishop
