Weekly Message from General Chief Overseer Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem

Date: 10/03/2022

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to Him be the Glory and to the Holy Ghost that abides within me. God has laid on my spirit to write a weekly message to the saints and friends of The Church of the Living God, The Pillar, and Ground of the Truth, Which He Purchased with His Own Blood, Inc.– Jewell Dominion. This week’s key word is posed as a questionnaire, “What is Your Purpose in Christ? What is God’s Purpose for your life?”

In concluding the series on Purpose, God has 4 primary purposes for your life:

The first primary purpose God has for our life is to “GOD-UP” (Worship) – To Know and Love God. (We were made to worship God and to join His family). John 4:24 tells us, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth”.  “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him” (John 4:23). Moreover, Psalms 29:2 reads, “Give unto the Lord the Glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”.

The second primary purpose God has for our life is to “GROUP UP” (Fellowship)- To Love Others. (We were made to fellowship with God’s family members and with others). The word of God enjoins us to keep fellowship with the brethren as it is an exercise that provokes us unto love and good works, according to the book of Hebrews, but according to 1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”  Moreover, Hebrews 13:16 reads, “And do not neglect doing and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Saints we are to have one mind, compassion one of another, love as brethren, be courteous, don’t render evil for evil, or railing for railing but render blessing for evil. Thus, most of all we should have the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:5) You may ask, “how are we to attain the mind of Christ? Take up our cross daily (Luke 9).

The third primary purpose God has for our life is to “GROW-UP” (Discipleship) – To Grow-Up Spiritually. (We were made to grow-up spiritually and become like Christ). The most difficult choice we must make in life is when we decide on our priorities. As a Christian, your number one priority is to put God first in your life. Once you do that, you’re able to mature in grace and live a more full and fruitful life in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Once you fully respond and commit to this relationship, your next step is to begin a life of discipleship, which is a life in grace. God made three promises in John 8:31-32. He tells us, “…If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Did you hear that? If you live by His teachings, you are His disciples; you will know the truth; and the truth will set you free. What does free mean to you? To me it means a disciple gives his heart, his mind, and his hands and feet to God as he lives a life in grace. We are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ. A true disciple displays various traits and qualities that reflect the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

The fourth and final primary purpose God has for our life is “GIFT-UP” (Ministry)- To Build God’s Kingdom. (We were made to serve the ministry of building God’s Kingdom). Salvation brings with it a glorious new life in God. Do you know that life? Do you enjoy His presence daily? If not, become a child of God by faith in Christ today. A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for the threefold purpose of leading the Church in evangelization of the world. Mark 16:15, “And He said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. Saints and friends Jesus saved the riffraff, nobodies, and the cellar dwellers. He invited the homeless, hopeless, and helpless to become a part of the Kingdom of God. There should not be any cliques or clubs in God’s body of believers! EVERYONE IS INVITED! Even in this life, circumstances change, and ultimately, there is no rejection of those accepted by Jesus Christ. In closing saints and friends, Find your purpose in Christ Jesus our Lord. May God bless you richly with His Word, through His Spirit. Likewise, when you God-Up, Group-Up, Grow-Up, and Gift-Up just remember “…with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) Amen, Amen, and Amen.
