Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, power, and dominion forever and ever, and to the Holy Ghost, who continues to dwell within us, guiding our steps.  This week’s message reveals the “Holiness a Safe Homeward Way.”

Those who take the path of Holiness are protected from the everyday dangers of life, ensuring that their ultimate salvation remains untarnished (1 Corinthians 10:13, Philemon 1:6, James 1:2-4; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10). As Isaiah 35:9 assures us, “No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up there on, it shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there.” This means that the path of life, narrow as it is, provides safety to those who walk on it. Snares and dangers are always present in the by-ways such as the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10), cares, riches, pleasures of this world (Matthew 13:22, Luke 8:14), deceit (Jacob receiving his blessing from Isaac), Lust (David in his sin with Bathsheba), and the by-ways always lead to sorrows. Anyone who grasps the perils of this life, both seen and unseen, feels the need for a safe way (Psalm 27:11, Isaiah 30:20-21).

Holiness is a Homeward Way that assures a safe arrival at the journey’s end. According to Isaiah 35:10, “And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” This way provides a sense of satisfaction and assurance that one is homeward bound. The value of a road depends on where it leads. It is essential to ask where a road leads and what lies at the end of the way of life before embarking on any course. Once you have chosen a road and followed it, it is not always easy to return. Hebrews 6:4-6 says, “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” Like Apostle Paul, we must remember our former life and acknowledge our mistakes. In 1 Timothy 1:13, he said, “Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.”

In conclusion, it is crucial to remember that the path to righteousness leads to our ultimate destination, and the joy of those who travel that path increases as they draw closer to the end of their journey (Proverb 4:18). If you find yourself not on the path of Holiness, remember, there is still time to do so. The possibility of finding this path is always open.

Because “…with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

Message from the Desk of First Lady Deaconess Linda Worthem

Date: July 7, 2024

Holy Greetings, my brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I remain saved, sanctified, and kept by the power of the Holy Ghost. I give honor to our General Chief Overseer, Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem, our Assistant Overseer, our Chief Helpers, and all officials who work tirelessly to spread the word of God and bring souls to Christ.

My soul is still rejoicing over our wonderful time at our 116th General Assembly.  We celebrate the five (5) souls that found salvation, the inspiring sermons, heartfelt testimonies, the cancer survivor walk, the talented musicians, and the dedicated ushers. The Jewell Ensemble Choir filled our hearts with their beautiful songs. The Overseer and I were overjoyed to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary with a delicious meal shared with our brothers and sisters. We are grateful to all who worked tirelessly to find a venue and plan the menu. The cakes were a delight. We thank you for all the anniversary gifts, the cards, the food, cologne, cups, and all monetary gifts. We praise God for granting us safe travels to and from the General Assembly and keeping our loved ones safe while we were away. These moments of joy and celebration have strengthened our bond as a community.

Brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the 4th of July, a day that marks the colonies’ freedom from British rule, let us also remember Juneteenth, the day the slaves in Texas learned of their freedom. But above all, let us not forget that the Blood of Jesus Christ has set us free from the bondage of sin. The Holy Ghost empowers us to remain free.  Acts 1:8 reminds us, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” This is a personal journey, and I urge you to make a firm decision and a determined spirit to live free and separate from the bondage of sin. Galatians 5:1 says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Let these words guide you in your spiritual journey.

In closing, I would like to share pictures of the saints in their beautiful African attire. Didn’t we have a good time!!!!!!

All praises be to the all-mighty God.

His Servant,

Deaconess Linda Worthem

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, power, and dominion forever and ever, and to the Holy Ghost, who still abides in us.  This week’s message emphasizes “The Importance of Energy in Pursuing the Way of Holiness.”

The two great commandments are to love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. This love, when practiced, transforms our lives into a vibrant, energetic service to others. The Parable of the Good Samaritan is a prime example.  Luke 10:25-30 tells us, “And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? How readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.”

In Luke 10:25-30, a lawyer asks Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” The lawyer was trying to find a loophole to avoid loving certain people. However, Jesus replied with the parable of the Good Samaritan, which teaches us to love and show compassion to everyone, regardless of their background or social status. “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.”

My dear brothers and sisters, to love your neighbor as yourself means living a life of active and energetic service to others. This includes evangelism, missions, and helping the poor and needy. It’s a call to self-sacrifice inspired by God’s love for us. Let us always remember the words, “…with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). This promise should instill hope and enable us to tackle any obstacle we encounter.
