The Black History Month 2023 theme set by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) is “Black Resistance.” This theme explores how “African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression, in all forms, especially the racial terrorism of lynching, racial pogroms and police killings,” since the nation’s earliest days.

The Spirit of the Lord placed on the General Overseers heart to involve our Youth Church (ages 18 and below) in an activity for Black History Month. Youth members were asked to conduct research on our Church Leaders – past or present – and write up a paragraph about them, to be posted throughout the month on our National Church website.
