Greetings, beloved members of the Church, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, power, and dominion forever and ever, and to the Holy Ghost, who still abides in us. This week’s message is “Walking the Highway of Holiness,” a journey we are on together.
I want to conclude this series on the Highway of Holiness with words of hope and reassurance. For those who may feel lost, remember that God brought us here today to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you trust in Jesus Christ, His blood shed on the cross, and put your trust entirely in Him, He will forgive your sins, raise you spiritually, and set you on this Highway of Holiness.
Don’t leave the church without experiencing regeneration. I fear the consequences of doing so. You don’t need to move physically; trust in Him. Also, understand that in every case, justification is followed by sanctification. Hence, look at your life. Are you on the Highway of Holiness? Is there a pattern of growing holiness in your life? Are you more like Jesus Christ than you were a year ago? Is your life pure? Is your heart growing in love for God with all your heart and love for your neighbor? Is your conscience accusing or defending you? Are there areas of sin that are troubling you, besetting you? How is it going for you sexually? Are you sexually pure? Or is your conscience smiting you right now, the Holy Spirit convicting you?
Look at your speech. Are you arguing, complaining, gossiping, slandering, or lying? Is filthy language coming from your lips, or are there any off-color jokes? Now, look at the relationships between you and other church members. Is there bitterness, rage, unforgiveness, judgementalism, attitudes of superiority, or pride toward others? What about lawful pleasures? Are you tasting and seeing the honey of the Lord and sampling it at the appropriate amount? Psalm 34:8 tells us, “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
In closing, let us reflect on the positive areas of our lives. Are we living a life of cheerful self-sacrifice, understanding that our actions benefit the body of Christ internally here and then as we reach out to others who haven’t come to faith in Jesus Christ? Are we actively involved in evangelism, missions, caring for the poor and needy, and fulfilling our duty as members of this spiritual community?
Because “…with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
