Message from the Desk of First Lady Deaconess Linda Worthem

Date: August 18, 2023

Holy Greetings my brothers and sisters in the name of Jesus Christ. I remain saved, sanctified and kept by the power of the Holy Ghost. I give honor to our General Chief Overseer, Bishop Dr. Calvin Worthem and the Assistant Overseer, Bishop Dr. Bonnie Guster and all officials of the Church of the Living God who are teaching, preaching and living according to the Word of God.

Saints, I’m so thankful that God met us in the 115th General Assembly in a mighty way; souls were revived and saved, Praise God. I truly enjoyed every aspect of the Assembly, the sermons, the tent services, early morning prayer, the Youth Day activities, especially the block party. Deaconess Dr. Telashay Swope-Farr, newly appointed Youth Director and Minister Vanise Boles Camp Jewell Director, they did an awesome job with our youth this year. My brothers and sisters the General Chief Overseer and I appreciate and thank you for every gift: the beautiful suit, plaque, gift baskets, cards, battery hand fan, Bishop Crozier, and monetary gifts.

On Sunday, August 13, 2023, I conveyed an encouraging message to the saints in Toccopola. My message was simple, I encourage all to, “LIVE FOR GOD”.  Daily we make choices, what to eat, what to wear, etc. Today, I encourage you, that while the blood is running warm in your veins, give your life to God and live for Him. The Bible is our spiritual GPS that God has given us. It is our user’s manual and shows us how to have a fulfilling life and prepare for our God-given purpose. According to the 2 Peter 3:10, “… the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and the heavens will pass away”. Hence, Hebrews 3:15, tells us, “…To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation”.

Billy Graham one of the greatest evangelists that ever lived made a personal choice at the age of 15 to give his life to God, to live a saved, holy, and sanctified life. Saints we must have the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost gives us power to live free from sin if we desire to.  Remember, if people around you are not living for God, just pray for them and you keep living for Him.  My message will always be, “LIVE FOR GOD.” Even in death, I want these three words to be on my headstone, “LIVED FOR GOD”.

In my closing, I encourage all wives to join Bishop Marva Neal’s “Wives Ministry Zoom meetings. Titus 2:3-5 tells us, “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”  The Wives Ministry meeting date and time is sent to all pastors each month. The role of wife in ministry is to support encourage and model Godliness to her husband and the church. A wife is in a unique position of leadership and influence, but also of service and humility.  Please call in to Bishop Neal’s next Zoom meeting. All Praise be the true and living God.

His Servant,

Deaconess Linda Worthem
