2024 Holy Week – Good Friday

Prayer

The Betrayal

Prayer

King Jesus, if we could go back in time to your week of Passion, and see first hand that Judas betrayed you,  what the chief priests,  high priests, scribes, elders of the people, the multitudes, all the council and false witnesses against you did, that you would be put you to death, we could not bear it all. You were just. You were innocent of any wrong doings. You were a miracle worker and Teacher from God among the people.  How could they.  But out of envy you suffered at their hands.  Suffered abuse, degradation, mockery, pain from a crown of thorns, and hit on the head, spit upon, knocked over, you were repeatedly and violently slapped for long periods of time.   39 times you were scouraged with a whip made of

bones, leather and small pieces of metal, tearing away your flesh where ever it hit.  Oh Lord, oh Lord, it hurts me even now to know what you went through.

A good Friday, Jesus?  Yes, because you were allowed to suffer terribly for my salvation. As the scripture says – “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”

Thank you Jesus.

My Saviour, I cannot make this Christian journey without you.  Just as you maintained a close relationship with your disciples and called them friends, you also promised you would never leave or forsake them. Your

reassurance was “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”.  I too am your disciple, never forsake me.  Be with me always. I want to be close to you, I know you are closest to us when we suffer.

If I am forsaken, or terribly hurt in any way, help me, deliver me, save me, strengthen me Lord.

In the valley and shadow of death, I depend on you to be with me Jesus.

With you, I can take anything, with you I know I will make it.

Praise you Lord, Bless your Holy Name.  Amen!
